Timeline & ESFRI Roadmap

FNH-RI timeline, vision and mission, governance, and unique offers to the research community.

From Design to Long-Term Operation

The FNH-RI timeline reflects the evolution of its vision, mission, governance and offers to the research community. FNH-RI is intended to generate a return on member states’ investments through broad impacts on research and development and through improvements in the health and sustainability of citizens’ diets.

Between 2012 and 2019, the conceptual design of FNH-RI was developed. During the design and preparation phase, a first proof of principle was made through the development of governance and management as well as the DATA, FACT and TED services.

ROADMAP

Planned Development of FNH-RI

2012 – 2019

Conceptual design phase

The conceptual design of FNH-RI was developed, and the first proof of principle was created through early work on governance, management and the DATA, FACT and TED service model.

2022 – 2024

Preparatory phase

The planned preparatory phase focuses on building governance, preparing services and extending the user community.

2025 – 2029

Implementation phase

FNH-RI moves into implementation, operationalizing services and broadening use across stakeholders and national nodes.

2030 onwards

Operation phase

In the operational phase, FNH-RI functions as an active research infrastructure serving the community over the longer term.

Next Generation

Termination / restart logic

Rather than a simple end point, the timeline anticipates that a restart is more likely to create a next generation FNH-RI 2.0.
