Food Nutrition and Health Research Infrastructure-Greek Node

The FNH-RI GR node, will operates within the FNH-RI and the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures, including academic, public bodies and industrial partners.

FNH-RI GR includes eight partners and is coordinated by the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens. The other partners are: Hellenic Health Foundation, Food Science and Human Nutrition Department of the National Technical University of Athens, First Department of Pediatrics and Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Medical Statistics, Medical School of, School of Food Science and Human Nutrition of the Agricultural University of Athens, General Chemical State Laboratory and the Federation of Hellenic Food Industries.

The Greek node is still in the initial steps of development. The final objective of the node include the omic analysis of national interest nutrients and their extensive trophomettic analysis, food composition tables and omic databases, food quality and safety, development of food standards, analysis of chemicals and pesticide residues and finally the nutritional value Greek products. At health level the node will focus on the food consumer behavior, the development of new products towards a healthy diet, including prevention and management of childhood and adolescence overweight, obesity,and diabetes. At the service level the FNH-RI GR node will inform those interested about the goals of the infrastructure. Further the node will support national food companies for understanding of the data obtained and analyzed, as well as the information of the consumers and the general public by multi level briefing.
